Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey recently shared his experience of watching his film The Sabarmati Report with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During an event, Vikrant was asked about the Prime Minister's reaction after watching the film, and he revealed that it was an emotional experience. According to Vikrant, there was a long discussion, but he chose to keep the details of their private conversation confidential.

He said, “All I can say is that he liked the film, he enjoyed it, and he appreciated the efforts we made.” In an emotional moment, PM Modi had tears in his eyes after watching the film. Vikrant described this as an unforgettable compliment that would stay with him forever.
PM Modi Praises Vikrant's Performance
The Sabarmati Report is based on the controversial 2002 Godhra incident in Gujarat, which has stirred significant political and social discourse. Vikrant Massey’s performance in the film has received widespread praise, including from Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
Screening of the Film in Parliament
The film The Sabarmati Report was also screened in Parliament, further igniting discussions surrounding the sensitive topic of the Gujarat riots.
Box Office Success of 'The Sabarmati Report'
When asked about the box office performance of the film, Vikrant commented, “Everyone has their own perspective. From my point of view, The Sabarmati Report is a hit film.” He shared that the film was made on a budget of Rs 15 crore and has earned Rs 40 crore, making it a commercial success.
Background on the Godhra Incident and the Nanavati Commission
The Godhra incident, which took place in Gujarat in March 2002, remains a deeply divisive topic. At the time, Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. In response to the tragedy, he established the Nanavati-Shah Commission to investigate the incident. The commission, comprising retired High Court judge K.G. Shah and retired Supreme Court judge G.T. Nanavati, submitted the first part of its report in September 2008, labeling the Godhra incident as a well-planned conspiracy and clearing Modi, his ministers, and senior officials of any wrongdoing. The commission’s second report was submitted in December 2019 under the updated name Nanavati-Mehta Commission after the death of Justice K.G. Shah in 2009. The second report reaffirmed the findings of the first.
The release of The Sabarmati Report has brought renewed attention to these historical events, as well as to Vikrant Massey’s compelling portrayal of a sensitive and controversial chapter of Indian history.
